Eliaquim Mangala’s transfer to Porto is said to be off. After strong claims saying the Frenchman would be returning to his old club, Manchester City have chosen not to accept the move.
Record says that a ‘shark’ spoiled the deal, meaning that a richer club could convince City’s board. But the newspaper hasn’t found out who the shark is yet.
They mention Tottenham, Milan, Napoli and Valencia as the sides who were interested in signing the defender.
But as Porto considered the Champions League spot to be a big attraction for the player, Record claims that Tottenham and Napoli should be more well positioned in the race.
Mangala was expected to sign for Porto on a one-year loan. The story says the richer club should be able to pay for a big percentage of the defender’s salaries, but as they couldn’t even find out who the club is, maybe there’s someone signing the player on a permanent deal. It won’t take long before the shark is named.
