The transfer window may have closed, but that doesn’t mean clubs, or the media, stop thinking about possible moves.
In Friday’s edition of Portuguese newspaper O Jogo, it’s claimed that Pep Guardiola maintains a serious interest in Alex Grimaldo of Benfica.
Grimaldo signed for Benfica in January, having come through Barcelona’s La Masia system. The Catalan club have a right to a percentage of any future sale, and if Guardiola’s interest increases then they may be getting that from Manchester City.
O Jogo say that such is the keeness coming from Manchester City, that leaders at the club have even contacted Grimaldo’s agent. They wanted to find out the contractual details he has with Benfica, and so City contacted Amadeo Rengel to try and find out some more information.
Given this interest, it will be no surprise if Manchester City have someone regularly watching the 20 year over the next season and perhaps beyond.
