If you’re a regular here at Sport Witness, we cover numerous stories from around the world about Manchester City signing young players.
City have made it their priority to hoover up young talent from across the globe in recent years, and thus, they are regularly linked to any emerging talent regardless of where they are.
However, it seems they’ve been doing their hoovering a little closer to home of late with Sport reporting they are in advanced talks to sign Barcelona youngster Juan Larios.
The newspaper says Manchester City are keen on the 15-year-old left-back, who is already playing for Barcelona’s Juvenile B side.
Indeed, they are ‘very advanced’ in negotiations for him, according to the report, suggesting a deal is close to being completed and ‘everything indicates’ he is set to make the switch to England.
Larios, who is referred to as a ‘pearl’ of La Masia, turns 16 on January 12th and he could sign his first professional contract with Manchester City at that point.
His family have already decided to leave and have ended talks with Barça about a possible renewal for the young star.
Barcelona were keen to keep him and offered him a salary that would have made him their third highest-paid youngster behind Ilaix Moriba and Ansu Fati.
He has decided to ‘try his luck’ with Manchester City, though, where he will link up with the likes of Eric García and Adrià Bernabé, two other Barcelona youngsters who have made the switch to Manchester in recent years.
