This season, Fiorentina have four loanees in their first team squad they can potentially buy in the summer: Luis Muriel, Marko Pjaca, Kevin Mirallas and Edimilson Fernandes.

While the Colombian will definitely be purchased come the current campaign’s end and the Croatian will return to Juventus, the two Premier League players are in some sort of limbo.

According to Corriere dello Sport, the West Ham midfielder has between now and the end of the campaign to show why Fiorentina should give the Hammers €9m to make the move permanent.

That adds up to 69 days, and Fernandes appears to be heading in the right direction, used rather a lot by Stefano Pioli this season (24 times in the league, scoring two goals and picking up one assist).

As things stand, it should happen, but with the manager’s future still undecided (his contract runs out in the summer) and a loss to Cagliari at the weekend far from helping his case, it could all come down to whether the 53-year-old is in the dugout next season.

If he isn’t, it will be up to whoever replaces him to decide if he wants to keep the West Ham loanee around.
