While Celtic haven’t had all that much to cheer about this season, the emergence of Jeremie Frimpong has been one of the few bright lights in a rather disappointing campaign so far.
Multiple exits from European competitions and a slow start to the Scottish Premier League have seen Neil Lennon heavily criticised for various reasons, but his usage of the young Dutchman isn’t one of them.
One club have taken notice of the 20-year-old’s performances this season, and that’s AS Roma in Italy.
Gazzetta dello Sport are the ones reporting it on Thursday, claiming that Paulo Fonseca’s agent, Marco Abreu, made an ‘enquiry’ with Celtic about the right-back, but the answer he got wasn’t favourable.
According to the Italian newspaper, the Scottish side’s requested are ‘for no less than €15m’, making him an expensive recruit for a club hardly swimming in spare cash these days.
That being said, they haven’t been put off entirely, as Gazzetta do add ‘it will be discussed in January’, because, for now, Fonseca has other issues to address in the present rather than looking ahead at the next transfer window.
