Chelsea’s recent form hasn’t been great.

Few will argue with that, including Frank Lampard, who has found pressure hard to deal with in recent weeks as he finds himself unable to get his team to return to their early season form.

A leaky defence coupled with struggling strikers, Chelsea are now at the centre of the managerial rumour carousel, with their legendary midfielder’s future reportedly in the balance.

Many names have circulated, including those of Max Allegri and Thomas Tuchel, but, perhaps unsurprisingly, Bild’s Christian Falk believes the Italian is out of the running.

The German journalist reckons Allegri is now ‘off the list of Chelsea’ when it comes to their next manager, with the former Paris Saint-Germain man ‘the favourite’.

Not only that, but Ralf Rangnick, whose last managerial spell came between 2018 and 2019 at RB Leipzig, is ‘the alternative’.

He then finishes off by adding the Blues ‘will try to end the season with Lampard’.

We can’t say we’re surprised that a German journalist would put forward two German candidates for a team who spent a combined £119m on two currently underperforming German players, but whether the current Chelsea manager’s job is actually in danger remains to be seen.

After all, the Blues put a lot of faith in the 42-year-old and firmly backed him during the last transfer window, so perhaps, much like Manchester United have done with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, they might be willing to be a bit more patient than they have in the past when it comes to their managerial turnover.
