Turkish newspaper Aksam claim Besiktas manager Abdullah Avci doesn’t want Domagoj Vida to join Aston Villa in this transfer window.

The Croatian defender has been linked with a move to Premier League side in recent weeks and Aksam claim Villa are ready to offer €6m to sign him before the deadline.

However, they say the Besiktas manager wants to keep the 30 year old as he believes Vida is a key player for his defence.

Avci reportedly thinks the player’s departure would create problems for the Super Lig side’s defence and therefore he wants him to remain in Istanbul.

Along with Aston Villa, fellow Premier League side Sheffield United have also been linked with a move for the former Dynamo Kyiv player. Despite the interest from England it seems Besiktas will try to keep their player for the time-being, but their financial situation could decide the future of the Croatia international.

Vida’s contract with the Turkish club runs until June 2022.
