Gazzetta dello Sport sound like they’re losing their own patience with Maurizio Sarri, as they explain Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has already done so.
In the ‘next few hours’ the Napoli chief wants an answer from his manager about whether he’s going to continue with the club for next season.
On Sarri’s side, Gazzetta explain he’s concerned several key players could leave the club, with affordable buyout clauses active on Dries Mertens, José Callejón, and Raúl Albiol.
Meanwhile, Sarri is also said to be ‘waiting for a signal’ from Chelsea, with it being made clear they’re the only club ‘seriously interested’ in appointing the manager. But it’s speculated that the FA Cup win could see Antonio Conte remain in place, something which feels quite unlikely over in England.
Sarri wants to speak to his family to decide what the next step is, but he needs to hurry if he doesn’t want the situation taking out of his hands.
De Laurentiis has made his impatience clear and public and isn’t the type of man to continually keep waiting.
This is now Chelsea’s time, and if they want Sarri an approach needs to be made before he gives Napoli assurances he’s staying.
