Fotospor claim Fenerbahce manager Ersun Yanal has vetoed the signing of Eliaquim Mangala from Manchester City.

The Turkish club are in the market for a central defender and need to strengthen their squad in this window due to relegation fears.

According to Fotospor, Fenerbahce sporting director Damien Comolli has given the name of Mangala to Yanal but the Turkish coach has rejected the chance to sign the Manchester City man because of the player’s past injuries.

It’s claimed Yanal isn’t prepared to take any risks for Mangala after the player was ruled out for almost 10 months following an injury he picked up whilst on loan with Everton last season.

Mangala has yet to feature in Pep Guardiola’s team this season and the player could be looking to leave the Premier League champions in order to get first team football elsewhere. The 27 year old will become a free agent in the summer when his contract with Manchester City expires.
