An area Napoli have struggled with this season is their full-backs.

Faouzi Ghoulam has had numerous fitness issues over the past two seasons, while Elseid Hysaj has had a number of differences with Carlo Ancelotti.

That’s why we are seeing a number of fullbacks around Europe being linked with a move to Napoli, like Kieran Trippier, and now Celtic’s Kieran Tierney.

According to Corriere dello Sport on Thursday, Carlo Ancelotti has been doing his scouting (helped by his staff) on who to order his club to buy, and one of the players ‘valued’ is the Celtic favourite.

The 21-year-old, who missed some of this season’s campaign with a hip injury, was a near constant under Brendan Rodgers, and remained so when fit under Neil Lennon once the former went to Leicester.

Contracted to Celtic until 2023, it would take a fair chunk of money to convince the Scottish Premiership champions to sell their starlet, but it’s fair to say that day is probably coming.

Whether it’s this summer or the next, someone is bound to come along and make an offer that cannot be refused.

We’ll have to see if Napoli are that club, although it seems Real Madrid’s Theo Hernandez is ahead of Tierney in Ancelotti’s pecking order for the time being.
