Stuttgart manager Hannes Wolf has told the German media he understands some of his players are currently hurting because of a lack of playing time. Stuttgart midfielder Alexandru Maxim has been one of those to suffer in recent games, and subsequently the Romanian has been linked with a move to Leeds United in the summer.
Speaking to Stuttgarter Nachrichten, Wolf was asked about the situation with some of his fringe players, including Maxim. The Stuttgart boss said he understands the position they are in at the moment, but highlighted this is what happens when a team is producing results. Wolf went on to say he must make these difficult decisions even if the players aren’t happy about it.
“I understand that the current situation hurts the players, but that’s how a good team works. After all, it is the coach’s job to disappoint some players,” said Wolf.
Last month Leeds United held initial talks with his agent to sign Maxim. These talks with Leeds United were confirmed by the player’s agent, but at the time he said he only expected his client to move in the summer, and to a club that suited Maxim.
Stuttgart boss Wolf has also given Leeds United encouragement by confirming the German side would listen to offers for Maxim because he has several players that can play in his position.
