On June 29th, Corriere dello Sport explained Chelsea are ‘attempting a lunge’ for Lazio star Sergej Milinković-Savić in the summer window.
It was also stated a realistic option for the Blues is to offer €50m plus Emerson Palmieri to the Serie A side, in exchange for the midfielder.
Il Messaggero have come out with a report discussing the Serie A side’s plans this summer, in which they also detail the Serbia international’s situation.
The Biancocelesti have many unknowns to sort out. The one that is the biggest concern for them is the 27-year-old’s future, the offers he has received are in the region of €50-55m, and it don’t convince club chairman Claudio Lotito.
Milinković-Savić’s agent, Mateja Kežman, insists his client will not continue in Rome. The player is set to return to Lazio for pre-season training, but ‘doesn’t want to stay’ there until the end of the window.
Maurizio Sarri, at his end, has ‘tried to push’ the former Genk man towards Chelsea, in a deal that will allow Lazio to take Emerson and Ruben Loftus-Cheek. Unfortunately for the manager, and Lazio, ‘no negotiations are heated at the moment’.
With Milinković-Savić keen to leave and Sarri trying to push him to Chelsea, it needs to be seen whether this case will pick up pace in the coming weeks.
