It seems there could be some late drama this summer in case Newcastle United or West Ham United try to sign Moussa Marega.
Newspaper A Bola has a story today saying the player is enjoying a great relationship with Porto fans, and got a big ovation during the squad presentation this week.
That’s the opposite of what happened last year, when he tried to force his way out to the Hammers, and even refused to train.
Now this time, manager Sérgio Conceição has plans for him, and wants Marega to be featuring in the match against Krasnodar on August 7th. That’s one day before the end of the Premier League transfer window.
A Bola mentions the ‘echoes’ about Newcastle and West Ham’s interest. They say although the clubs aren’t in the Premier League’s top five, they have enough resources to make an attractive offer for the striker.
And in case this interest turns into bids, then ‘it doesn’t go through Conceição’s mind’ that Marega wouldn’t be used in the match against Krasnodar.
Now would Porto reject a big offer from England just because they want Marega to be featured in one game? That doesn’t sound very likely, partly because the Dragons would still have the second leg to be played in Portugal.
