Dutch manager Aad de Mos believes a transfer to Southampton for Anderlecht’s Leander Dendoncker would be an ideal move for the youngster. The 21-year-old has been linked with a move to the Premier League in recent months following his performances for the Jupiler side.
Voetbal Nieuws have reported on comments De Mos made on Dendoncker, and the interest the player has been getting from other clubs. The former Anderlecht manager said the young Belgian has good qualities, and expects the player to go for big money. De Mos believes Dendoncker can go on to bigger things, and a move to a club like Southampton would be ideal.
“Dendoncker has so much: a good kicking technique, good attitude, recovery power. He is less elegant and spectacular than Tielemans, but I can see him depart for a large amount. At clubs like Dortmund, Sevilla, Valencia, Everton, Southampton he certainly can bring something,” said the Dutchman.
In December we covered reports from Belgium that Southampton had sent scouts to watch Anderlecht’s clash with Eupen. At the time the Belgian media reported Southampton were getting an overview of Dendoncker, along with his club teammate Youri Tielemans. Both players are being tipped for moves to England, and this could happen in the next transfer window.
