On February 4th, Manchester United allowed Tyrell Malacia to join PSV Eindhoven on loan until the end of this season.
The left-back wasn’t first choice under Ruben Amorim and would have dropped further down the pecking order after Patrick Dorgu’s arrival at Old Trafford.
Malacia decided to go out on loan to PSV and their manager, Peter Bosz, claims he could make his debut against Willem II on Saturday. He has refused to confirm whether the 25-year-old will be in the starting lineup and NOS have relayed his comments.
“You’re definitely going to see him, but whether that’s in the match or on the bench, we’ll have to see tomorrow,” he said.
The Netherlands international joined Manchester United from Feyenoord in 2022 when Erik ten Hag brought him to the club. He made 39 appearances in his first season and then suffered an injury in the summer of 2023.
Malacia spent 500 days away from the pitch before returning to action last December. The PSV manager is aware he needs time to settle in.
“He needs to regain confidence in his body. But that’s fine. Only we are in a rhythm of two games a week, he still has to grow towards that,” Bosz explained.
NU have relayed additional comments made by Bosz on the Manchester United man in the pre-match press conference. The manager was honest in admitting Malacia won’t be able to regain his Feyenoord form right away at PSV.
“We hope to take him to Feyenoord’s Malacia as soon as possible. Is that realistic right now? I don’t think so, he’s been out too long for that,” he added.
