NEC manager Peter Hyballa has told the Dutch media his star defender Dario Dumic will not be leaving the club in the new year despite the interest from others. The Dane has impressed this season for the Dutch side, and has been linked with a move to Newcastle United in recent weeks.

Speaking to Voetbal International, Hyballa was asked about the future of Dumic, and whether he would be exiting NEC in the next transfer window. Despite the financial problems currently being experienced at the club, the NEC coach said the central defender would not be leaving half way through the season.

Hyballa also confirmed big offers have come in for the 24-year-old, but he remains insistent Dumic will see out the season with NEC.

“All these clubs offer twenty million. This winter Dario is not going away, period,” said the NEC boss.

Newcastle United have been showing an interest in Dumas, but face competition from other clubs from the Netherlands, Germany and Russia.

Dumic himself has said he’s ready to make the next step in his career, but Newcastle United may have to wait until the summer as the player wants to help NEC consolidate their place in the Erdedivisie.
