Stuttgart manager Hannes Wolf has told the German media if Alexandru Maxim wants to leave then this will be discussed. The midfielder has struggled to get games under Wolf and has subsequently been linked with a move to Leeds United in the past ten days.
Speaking to Stuttgarter Nachrichten, Wolf was asked about reports his squad needed to be reduced in this window and whether Maxim would be one of the players exiting the German club.
Wolf said he would talk to Maxim if he wants to find a new club. However, Wolf said as long as the Romanian international is at the club then they he will help him to progress.
“If he had the desire to change, we would talk about it, and the other way round: As long as he’s at the club, I will do everything to get him to a top level,” said Wolf on the Leeds United target.
There were claims in the German press last week Leeds United had held initial talks to sign Maxim. This was confirmed by the player’s agent, but he only expects his client to move in the summer.
Only yesterday Maxim’s agent gave Leeds United encouragement by saying the attacking midfielder would consider a move if any clubs showed a real interest signing him. Garry Monk was also keen on the player when manager at Swansea City.
