PSV manager Phillip Cocu has told the Dutch media Jurgen Locadia is preparing himself for a move to another league.
The Dutchman was linked with a move to Brighton and Hove Albion and Wolverhampton Wanderers in the last window.
Speaking to De Telegraaf, Cocu was quizzed bout Dutch players moving abroad, and the possibility of Locadia making the big move: “Actually, Jurgen must make the final step this season. For himself, in his personal development. In order to have enough luggage to enter an adventure into another competition. But I prefer, of course, that he will stay another five years … “
On deadline day we covered reports that Wolves had tabled a bid in the region of €11m, and it seemed the deal would be announced before the window closed. However, reports emerged from the Netherlands that PSV had pulled the plug on the deal with Wolves.
Despite these reports he was heading to Wolves it was later claimed Locadia was actually close to a move to the Premier League, with the Dutch press suggesting it was Brighton who were trying to get a last minute deal done.
Brighton were linked with the attacker throughout the last window after it was reported they’d tabled a bid for Locadia. Again De Telegraaf this weekend linked the PSV star to the Premier League side.
There have been no recent reports whether Nuno Espirito Santo or Chris Houghton will come back in for Locadia in January, but from Cocu’s comments the player could be gearing up for a transfer next summer.
