Widely reported to be on the verge of becoming the next Leicester manager, Claude Puel could, in fact, be heading to Everton instead.
This is, at least, what TuttoMercatoWeb are reporting on Wednesday afternoon, claiming the reason why the French manager hasn’t said yes to the Foxes yet is due to his desire to replace Ronald Koeman at Goodison Park.
However, this doesn’t mean Puel is the favourite for the Everton role, as the Italian website make it clear he’s just one of the options the club are looking at, but if the French manager were to be given the choice between the two sides, he would head to Liverpool.
Tmw just had to get involved, with another ‘esclusiva’.
If this is true, and don’t hold your breath, this probably won’t go down too well with Leicester fans, who will want somebody who wants the job at King Power Stadium above all rather than getting someone whose presence at the club was the result of his first option falling through.
We’ll have to wait and see what comes of this, but considering his struggles to please a demanding Southampton fanbase, Everton turning to Puel right now could be seen as taking a risk.
Then again, if he can bring some element of stability to the mess Ronald Koeman managed to create for himself, it’s better than nothing.
