We could spend an entire day praising Tite’s recent work for the Brazilian national team. With six wins in six games, including a 3-0 victory against Argentina, his start couldn’t be any better.
It wasn’t an easy job, as Brazil had been disappointing for a long time. So he has merit for improving every little part of the team.
One of the problems was Philippe Coutinho. Brazilians could never understand how come he’s so good at Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool but couldn’t repeat the same form for the national team.
Tite gave an interview to ESPN Brasil on Wednesday and talked about the matter. When explaining the first instructions he gave to the Liverpool midfielder, he told a funny story from when he changed his positioning.
Tite said he called Coutinho to talk personally after a training session to see what the player thought of moving from the left to the right side.
Coutinho told him he felt comfortable, and he wouldn’t have any difficulty to adapt to the new role. So Tite said:
– There’s another thing I want to tell you. Can I say it?
– Yes
– YOU’RE A F***ING GREAT PLAYER! You’re very good, lad!
Coutinho looked surprised and said:
– Thank you, boss.
– Hey boy, you have an inventive, creative ability… Go play, stay open there!”
And Coutinho hasn’t left the starting team ever since.
Liverpool fans may feel the approach of Tite sounds rather similar to that of their very own Jurgen Klopp.
