Arsenal sealed a 1-0 win over FC Zürich in the Europa League at earlier this month and the victory confirmed their top spot in the group table.
The Gunners were superior to their opponent and the outcome of the tie was decided by Kieran Tierney’s first half goal.
During the European tie, Mikel Arteta was regularly shouting instructions to Arsenal players.
According to Tipsbladet, FC Zürich boss Bo Henriksen was of the belief the north London club manager’s actions were ‘too wild and aggressive’. The Dane was not pleased with Arteta during the tie, but he doesn’t hold anything against the Arsenal coach.
“We had some controversies in the match, where I thought he [Arteta] should have done some things differently because he incited his players. But like the fantastic guy he is, he came over after the game and said sorry,” he told Tipsbladet.
The outlet states the Spaniard’s apology was accepted ‘immediately’ by Henriksen. The latter has now revealed the conversation he had with Arteta.
“I told him that such is life, but it is fantastic that he is coming. I also told him to take it easy. I have more mistakes than he can dream of. It was a great meeting with a man of class and energy. He has lots of form,” Henriksen explained.
FC Zürich were able to win one of their six group stage fixtures in this season’s Europa League, which resulted in them finishing at the bottom of their table.
