Werder Bremen manager Alexander Nouri has confirmed he made the decision over Felix Wiedwald leaving the club. Nouri has been accused of forcing Wiedwald out of the German club, after the goalkeeper joined Leeds United last week.

Werderstube have reported on comments Nouri gave yesterday in his press conference when quizzed whether he planned to get rid of Wiedwald all along.

“I have to face the fact that I’m the one who makes the decisions,” said the Werder Bremen coach, not shying away from the suggestions.

Wiedwald joined Leeds United at the end of last week, signing a three year contract for an undisclosed fee. On leaving the Bundesliga side the 28-year-old thanked most of those involved at Werder Bremen, apart from Nouri.

Leeds United’s new goalkeeper decided that his time in Bremen was up when he learned of the club’s attempts to sign Jiří Pavlenka, who has confirmed his move to Germany.

Wiedwald will have signed for Leeds United with no other intention than being the club’s first choice goalkeeper.
