Trabzonspor manager Rıza Calimbay has spoken to the Turkish media before their derby game against Fenerbahce this weekend.
The Turkish manager was asked whether Birmingham City target Hugo Rodellega would be leaving the club.
This week we covered reports from the Turkish media that Birmingham City are interested in bringing Rodellega back to the England, following his time at Wigan Athtletic and Fulham.
Rodellaga has a €1.5m release clause in his contract, and the Turkish press claimed Birmingham City were looking to activate this.
Calimbay confirmed the clause does exist, but he’s adamant Rodallega isn’t going anywhere: “Yes, Hugo has a clause in his contract. Clubs from abroad can make an offer because of that clause, this is also normal.
“It’s fine that he’ll get upset when he’s not playing. But we want to keep him. He’s an important part of our squad.”
Despite these comments from Calimbay, Trabzonspor would be powerless to stop Rodellega joining Birmingham City if the Championship side met his buyout clause, and the player wanted the move.
The Colombian has lost his place at Trabzonspor and the English side could give him the opportunity to get more playing time.
