Kasımpaşa manager Hakan Keleş has spoken to the Turkish media ahead of Yasin Özcan’s pending transfer to Aston Villa and has shared his pride over the youngster heading to England.

The 18-year-old is on the verge of signing for the Premier League side following reports Kasımpaşa and Aston Villa have come to an agreement.

Turkiye Gazetesi have reported on a statement released by Keleş in which he shared high praise for Özcan.

The Turkish coach said he expects the young defender to be a success at Aston Villa and that he doesn’t foresee any problems with the player settling in.

“As part of the agreement, he will most likely stay with us until the end of the season. I am very happy for him. I think he will do well, he will improve, he will also serve in the national team.

“It is a source of pride for him and for our community. Since the day I arrived, he’s picked up momentum tremendously. I think he has a lot of potential. I think he’ll fit in there,” said Keleş when specifically.

Yesterday there were reports Özcan had travelled to England and was having a medical ahead of his Aston Villa move. The English side will reportedly pay as much as €8m for him, depending on whether bonus targets are hit.

It’s also reportedly been agreed that Özcan will return to Kasımpaşa once the deal has been sealed and that he will remain on loan with the Super Lig side until the end of the season.
