Fenerbahçe boss Dick Advocaat is rumoured to be leaving the club at the end of the season, but according to AmkSpor he is still urging his board to sign Chelsea’s Marco van Ginkel to solve their ongoing problems in midfield.
Fenerbahçe were linked with Van Ginkel a couple of times during the winter window, but nothing materialised. Chelsea loaned him out to PSV for the second half of the season, and he’s been in good form, scoring 7 goals in 11 appearances for the Dutch side.
Turkey’s AmkSpor claim Fenerbahçe officials have flown to England to hold initial talks with Chelsea, and with the player seemingly not in the plans of Antonio Conte a deal could be made. Advocaat has already signed Mehmet Ekici from Trabzonspor, but the Dutchman believes the club need another midfielder and the Chelsea player is a good option.
AmkSpor have reported on comments made by Advocaat: “He’s a good player. He can be the one who will move to ball from the midfield area to the last third. He’s a good passer and also a great competitor. He has a good mindset. If the terms are acceptable, signing him would be a no-brainer.”
The 24-year old Dutch midfielder has had several loan spell since joining Chelsea, and Van Ginkel is under contract at Stamford Bridge until 2019.
