Ralf Rangnick is on the list of candidates to replace Jose Mourinho at Tottenham and has been ‘offered’ the job.
That’s according to BILD journalist Christian Falk, who says the fact Rangnick is German could end up working in his favour.
Tottenham are on the hunt for a new permanent boss after sacking Mourinho last week, with Ryan Mason put in temporary charge until the end of the season.
They have already seen their number one target Julian Nagelsmann go to Bayern Munich, while a move for Erik Ten Hag looks unlikely given he’s just signed a new deal at Ajax.
Rangnick is one of the names to have been mentioned, with the German coach currently out of work and looking for his next position.
He remains an outside favourite with bookmakers, who have him as low as 16/1 to end up at Tottenham next season.
Falk, though, says they could be wide of the mark.
“We have already talked about how Rangnick and Tottenham could become hot, and I have now heard quite specifically that he was offered the job,” he told BILD.
“In any case, he is on the shortlist, and that means talks will come.
“From the club, he still hears a bit of scepticism, but he’s already held talks with Manchester United and Everton in the UK in the past that never quite worked out.
“There must have been reasons for that, we don’t know them all, but it’s nice that he’s now being discussed.
“They need a new Tuchel, and in the UK, they believe the German coaches have done a lot of groundwork, which could be a big ace in the hole for Rangnick to Tottenham.”
