After the failures to bring in Antonio Conte, Paulo Fonseca, Julian Nagelsmann and Gennaro Gattuso as their manager, obviously for different reasons, it appears Tottenham could be on the verge of getting their man.
That is former Wolverhampton Wanderers coach Nuno Espirito Santo, whom Gianluca Di Marzio claims is ‘in advanced talks’ with Spurs and ‘very close to becoming’ their new manager.
Not only that, but if he does get the job, the club, probably through Fabio Paratici, have highlighted the ‘first target’ for the centre-back position.
That is Jules Koundé, currently contracted to Sevilla and with the France national team at the Euros, who has been a goal for multiple Premier League clubs over the past year or so.
Whether Tottenham can convince the La Liga side to sell remains to be seen, but it seems Santo already has a good idea of what he wants to achieve with Spurs and the defence is the first area that needs strengthening.
