Milliyet claim Besiktas manager Senol Gunes has rejected the chance to bring in Aleksandar Mitrovic from Newcastle United as part of the Cenk Tosun deal.

The Turkish newspaper say Besiktas officials have entertained bringing in Mitrovic plus cash, for Tosun to head to Newcastle United, but Gunes isn’t impressed about a possible exchange.

However, the 65-year old has rejected this proposal, and his words to the Beskitas board about a possible sale are paraphrased as: “If big money is offered. Otherwise I would like to have a goalscorer in the same bracket. If this happens I can give the transfer approval.”

Yesterday we covered reports from Turkey that Besktias could look to sell Tosun to Newcastle United in exchange for Mitrovic plus €7m. The Serbian international doesn’t look to be in the plans of Newcastle boss Rafael Benitez, and may need to find another club in the new year.

It’s been claimed talks have already taken place between Beskitas and Mitrovic’s agent, but it seems Gunes isn’t that keen on the Newcastle player.

Tosun has been linked with Newcastle United in recent months, with reports the Premier League side will table a bid for the player in the next window.
