Juventus manager Thiago Motta is “neglecting” Douglas Luiz, failing to use the midfielder properly since his arrival from Aston Villa this summer.
That’s according to former Juventus striker Aldo Serena, who has added his voice to the argument about the Brazilian on Deejay Football Club, relayed by Tuttosport.
Luiz made the move to Juventus this summer as part of a major operation between them and Aston Villa that saw money and Samuel Illing-Junior and Enzo Barrenechea head to Villa Park.
He had been expected to quickly establish himself as a key player under Motta, who also arrived this summer to replace Massimiliano Allegri.
That was based on the important role he had enjoyed under Unai Emery at Aston Villa since his arrival at the club.
However, he has instead found himself out of the picture, with Motta seemingly preferring Weston McKennie to the big summer signing so far.
That’s caused plenty of debate early on in Italy, where questions are being asked about the transfer, the player and generally what is going on.
Serena has now been asked his opinion and believes the former Aston Villa man has been mistreated, but things will improve before too long.
“I am very curious to see him at full strength,” he said.
“For me, he is the type of player Juventus need now, they don’t have midfielders like that in their squad. Thiago Motta has been neglecting him so far, but it’s likely that he’s not in good shape yet.”
