Club Brugge defender Maxim De Cuyper would be an ideal signing for Arsenal and could elevate their set piece routines even further.
That’s according to Belgian boss Hein Vanhaezebrouck, via Voetbal 24, who believes Arsenal should move for the 23-year-old if they ever decide to sign a left-back.
De Cuyper has four assists and one goal to his name in 23 appearances in all competitions this season and bagged a goal and an assists in the 2-1 win over KV Mechelen last week.
The left-back has steadily been making a name for himself with the Belgian side since returning from a loan spell at KVC Westerlo in 2023.
He’s a product of the club’s youth system, working his way through the various ranks to the first team over the last few years to now being a first-team regular with 19 assists and six goals in 83 appearances to date.
One of his big strengths is his ability with set pieces, demonstrating an ability to deliver the ball accurately into the box with either foot.
This is something Vanhaezebrouck has taken notice of and believes should be luring the likes of Arsenal into making a bid for him.
“De Cuyper has already improved defensively – against Celtic he had won the most duels on the entire field,” he said.
“The combinations that Tzolis, Vanaken and De Cuyper put on the mat are sometimes wonderful to watch. And of course he has his fantastic kicking technique.
“His crosses are becoming more and more like how Frank Vercauteren whipped balls in front of goal. His corners are phenomenal. Arsenal has a patent on corners at the far post. If Arsenal are looking for a left back who can deliver the ball hard, then De Cuyper is the ideal person.”
