Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini has made Arsenal’s Nuno Tavares ‘one of the most urgent reinforcements’ this summer.
That’s according to Gazzetta Dello Sport, who back up other claims in Italy that Atalanta are pushing for the defender’s signature.
We covered reports from Italy earlier today that Atalanta were keen on the defender and pushing for a loan deal after Oleksandr Zinchenko’s arrival from Manchester City pushed him down the pecking order at the Emirates.
Gazzetta pick up on that and state that the Italian side are ‘looking for the right formula’ with Arsenal.
Zinchenko’s arrival has made getting Tavares easier, with them having looked at him earlier in the window but put him on standby after initial conversations.
The time has now come for them to make their move, as Zinchenko’s arrival has given Arsenal the ‘impetus’ to move Tavares on.
Atalanta boss Gasperini is a big fan of the player and ‘has immediately considered him one of the most urgent reinforcements’ for his squad.
Arsenal had initially valued Tavares at €30m, but Atalanta would prefer a dry loan, one without an option or obligation to buy. They are, though, ‘willing to evaluate’ other solutions to make the transfer happen.
