Julen Lopetegui has been left ‘frustrated’ in his efforts to get back to the Premier League, with his last option, Crystal Palace, seemingly looking elsewhere.
Estadio Deportivo cover the Spanish coach today and his ‘frustrated return’ to the Premier League following his departure from Wolves in the summer.
They explain that the former Sevilla and Real Madrid coach wants to return to training in the Premier League ‘at all costs’ but little by little the options to do so are falling away.
The last of them would have been Crystal Palace, who appear to be on the verge of sacking Roy Hodgson and appointing a replacement.
That could provide Lopetegui with his chance to get back in, and he has been linked to the job in the past, but reports in England have indicated that Austrian coach Oliver Glasner is the strong favourite to be appointed at Selhurst Park instead.
Should that happen, it would mean ‘a new door is closed’ for Lopetegui, who has already rejected offers from around Europe and even Saudi Arabia because he wants to return to the Premier League.
That is his ‘dream’, but it may now have to be postponed until next season, with Crystal Palace the latest club to look elsewhere.
