Paris Saint Germain are eyeing up a move for Tottenham defender Serge Aurier in the summer, with manager Mauricio Pochettino having discussed it with his former player.
That’s according to Foot Mercato, who say Pochettino ‘launches the seduction operation’ to bring the defender back to Paris.
It’s explained that PSG are looking to strengthen the right flank for next season, and Pochettino has not been ‘idle’ in this regard.
He has begun to ‘take the temperature’ with Aurier, who he knows well, having taken him to Tottenham and worked alongside him for several seasons.
The pair have discussed the player’s situation at the club under Jose Mourinho, and his future and the Parisian coach has let Aurier know that he would like to sign him for next season.
At this moment, a move has not gone beyond that, so there have been no contacts with Tottenham over a deal as yet, but there is plenty of optimism.
The 28-year-old only has a year left on his deal in London, and this is considered an ‘immense advantage’ while FM have also learned that Tottenham are only asking for €12m if he is to leave.
Thus, a deal would be easy to do, and Aurier is more than open to it, having stated before now that he believes he has unfinished business with the French giants.
Indeed, he maintains close ties to Paris and has ‘internal supporters’ at the club, including President Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, with whom he has remained ‘very close’.
PSG chief Leonardo already explored the possibility of a move back in 2019 as well, and so at this point, all indications are that something can happen and with relative ease if PSG decide to go for it.
