With all the questions surrounding whether or not Gabriel Jesus is the right man to replace Sergio Agüero in the long term at Manchester City, one striker is making a name for himself abroad.

You’ll have heard of him, as Lukas Nmecha, currently on loan at Anderlecht, is lighting up the Jupiler Pro League this season.

The 22-year-old, whose contract at the Etihad comes to an end in 2022, has found the back of the net 13 times in 27 league games so far, including one at the weekend in a 1-1 draw against KV Mechelen.

While Anderlecht haven’t returned to their former heights just yet, the Vincent Kompany led side currently sit fourth in the league and Nmecha caught the eye of his opponent’s manager following the game, as Wouter Vrancken made a big claim to Eleven Sports.

Relayed by Voetbal Belgie, he said: “I think Nmecha is the best striker in Belgium. He’s a striker with depth, he can keep the ball up, is fast and puts them in the back of the net. He knows when to drop and when to go deep”.

Add to his 13 another three in the cup, and the Manchester City loanee has a tally of 16 goals in 30 games in all competitions this season.

While there’s no guarantee that his future lies at the Etihad beyond this summer, he is probably giving a striker-needy Pep Guardiola something to consider going forward.
