Less than a week ago, Feyenoord confirmed they’d agreed a deal with Manchester United for Tyrell Malacia and that the operation could be concluded quickly if the player said yes to the move.

Last Friday, reports indicated the left-back’s decision to work with a football lawyer instead of his agent, Ali Dursun, could delay his move to Old Trafford. These issues seem to have been sorted out.

Feyenoord started their pre-season on a disappointing note as they suffered a 7-0 defeat at the hands of FC Copenhagen.

The Eredivisie side’s coach, Arne Slot, admitted the defeat was “painful”, but insisted his side are way behind with their preparations when compared to the Danish champions. The manager was also without players with international experience.

With regards to Malacia, Algemeen Dagblad explain that Slot knows the player, who was present as a spectator [against Copenhagen], will ‘soon be presented officially’ as a new Manchester United player.

The Dutch club’s manager has also admitted the need for Feyenoord to find a replacement for the fullback.

Voetbal International journalist Martijn Krabbendam took to Twitter to also state Slot will not be able to count on Malacia when Feyenoord’s other ‘internationals’ join the group for pre-season training on Monday.

That’s because Malacia is ‘flying to Manchester’ on Sunday, likely to undergo his medical, before completing the move to join Erik ten Hag’s side.
