Leeds United continue to be mentioned in reports covering Raúl’s exit from Real Madrid. The club legend had been coach of the Castilla side and left over the past week when it became clear Xabi Alonso would be the new manager of Los Blancos senior side.

Raúl had hoped that was the long term aim for himself, and initially thought he could graduate from Castilla to the first team. He’d done that as a player and doing the same as a manager would be special.

Cadena Ser take a wider look at the situation and have quotes from journalist Antón Meana. He’s claimed Raúl reached an ‘agreement in principle’ with Leeds United to become their manager

The insinuation is this happened last summer or before, when Raúl was told that it wasn’t essential for him to leave Real Madrid and be a senior manager elsewhere to get to the first team role.

The 47-year-old had been prepared to join Leeds United if it got him closer to the top job at Los Blancos, but was informed that wasn’t the case and then he decided against the Whites.
