As you know by now, Olivier Ntcham is meant to be on his way to Marseille from Parkhead.
The Celtic midfielder was signed yesterday in hope of filling the gap left by Morgan Sanson’s sale to Aston Villa, but it appears André Villas-Boas didn’t want him, and he’s made that known on Tuesday.
Speaking in a press conference, the Portuguese manager vented his frustrations and revealed he’d asked the board if he could resign.
Relayed by L’Equipe, he said: “The transfer window finished with the arrival of a new player (Celtic’s Ntcham). It’s a decision that wasn’t made by me. I learned about it this morning in the press when I woke up. It’s a player I said no to. He wasn’t in our list. I wasn’t for it. I woke up, looked at the number one site for Marseille information to learn a bout the arrival of a new player.
“I offered my resignation to the board. I’m not in agreement with the sporting politics. I’ve taken my decision to offer my resignation to the board. They haven’t given me feedback yet. I don’t want any money from Marseille. I simply want to leave because of difference on the sporting politics”.
Villas-Boas then went on to say he was ‘sorry’ it had come to this, but with the club having already lived ‘two or three years’ of nonsense transfer wise, it seemed enough was enough.
Reinforcing the fact it had nothing to do with the fans breaking into the training centre and it was purely a football decision, the Portuguese manager is simply done with a club who haven’t been well managed for years behind the scenes.
It seems signing Celtic’s Olivier Ntcham against his will was the final straw.
