Chelsea completed the signing of Marcos Alonso on the deadline day in a €23m deal from Fiorentina. The 25-year-old Spanaird signed for Fiorentina on a free transfer from Bolton in 2013, and also enjoyed a loan spell at Sunderland.
Fiorentina boss Paulo Sousa has been speaking to the Italian press ( via Calciomercato) about Alonso’s departure.
Sousa insisted the sale of Alonso was ‘inevitable’ for a certain fee, and it was difficult to resist Chelsea’s offer.
He said:”At market level executives and companies have to make their own decisions. I have analysed the names that have been proposed and have given indications especially on defence, unfortunately, some names were not reachable.
“I have explained that the sale of Alonso was inevitable at some figures, I do the best with what I have.”
Alonso could make his debut for Chelsea on Sunday when they face Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium.
