As things stand, Simone Inzaghi will be leaving Lazio at the end of the season.
That isn’t because he wants to, but the club and their manager have yet to agree on a contract extension, with his current deal expiring next month.
This has left the door open for other clubs in search of a new manager to make their move, with Tottenham reportedly one of them.
Corriere dello Sport recently had a big article concerning Spurs’ interest in the Lazio man, and Il Tempo on Thursday pick that up and appear to add their information.
The local newspaper explain that signing Inzaghi to a new deal is the ‘best choice’, but only if the Italian is fully convinced about the project at hand.
A meeting is reportedly set up between all parties once the season ends, but that gives other clubs time to whisper sweet nothings in the manager’s ear.
It’s made clear that ‘in the meantime, Inzaghi is listening to other offers’, with Tottenham, Juventus and Napoli all named, while Lazio, down their end, are looking at alternatives should an agreement not be found.
This appears to suggest the Serie A manager is one of the people being considered by Daniel Levy to ensure the post-Mourinho era at Tottenham goes well, and there’s no denying he can get the best of a star striker when looking at Ciro Immobile’s numbers over the past few seasons.
Whether he’s the right man for Spurs, however, remains to be seen.
