The international break came at a good time for Ronald Koeman in a couple of ways. Everton’s crisis seems to have calmed down, at least a little, with a lack of games, and the Dutchman got a chance to grab some autumnal sun by flying to Spain for a few days.
Now back in the cold, in both senses, reality of Merseyside, Everton face a tricky trip to Brighton & Hove Albion this weekend. A loss there, and things may be worse than they have been to date.
Corriere dello Sport talk up the pressure and say Everton are in ‘crisis’ with Koeman.
It’s all so an Italian media outlet can once again claim there’s interest from Goodison Park in Walter Mazzarri.
The claims were made earlier this month, and despite it now being repeated that Mazzarri is being ‘courted’ by Everton, it would take some believing… because the Italian isn’t exactly an exciting option.
Corriere dello Sport put some strong arguments forward, Mazzarri is a safe pair of hands, clubs see him as a steady option.
But Everton fans, and they’ll hope the club too, don’t want steady, the want a rocket-propelled trip to the top four, or at least someone who can convincingly sell the dream of that.
