With Claudio Ranieri now out of the picture at Watford, the Hornets are on the lookout for their third manager of the season.
Sacking Xisco to replace him with the former Leicester City magician, the Premier League side didn’t improve, and even regressed, under the experienced coach, meaning they now need someone to desperately redress the situation.
Watford are currently 19th in the table after 20 games with just 14 points from those, but have some games in hand on the likes of Newcastle and Norwich City.
Either way, there is now a managerial role that needs to be filled, and Fabio Cannavaro, who was also touted for the Everton job, is in the mix.
He’s the favourite for some, and Gazzetta dello Sport explain the 2006 World Cup winner ‘was contacted and took time’, with it further added that ‘a trip to England in the next few days is possible’.
In fact, he said to have a ‘clear advantage’ over the likes of Frank Lampard, Diego Martinez and Paulo Fonseca.
They also back up claims that Cannavaro ‘has also had an interview with Everton’, meaning that there are now two clubs after him, and both are in precarious positions in the Premier League.
Is he the right man to get Watford out of their current sticky mess? There’s only one way to find out.
