A week ago Germany’s Kicker were the first to report Frankfurt interest in signing Guillermo Varela from Manchester United.
At that stage talks were said to be just starting, but the idea was for Varela to move to Frankfurt on a season long loan, with the Bundesliga club then having a right of purchase.
It was a surprising twist for Varela, who impressed under Louis van Gaal last season. Maybe a return to Spain, where he was previously on loan with Real Madrid’s youth side, would have seemed likelier, or even a loan elsewhere in the Premier League.
Since the original report, there’s been several updates in Germany, and the English press have also picked up on the story, however things still aren’t done.
Frankfurt’s sporting director Bruno Hubner has been quoted by OP explaining it’s not agreed yet: “It is still not perfect.”
However, Frankfurt are trying to sort a deal out, and think the player could join them this summer.
