PSV technical manager Marcel Brands has spoken to the Dutch website about Brighton and Hove Albion’s attempts to sign Tottenham Hotspur forward Vincent Janssen in the last window.
Janssen is currently on loan with Fenerbahce after failing to make an impact in his first season with Tottenham.
Brands said Brighton were interested in signing Janssen during the winter transfer window, before they signed Jurgen Locadia from PSV.
Voetbal Zone have reported on comments Brands made to Vi.nl about the Tottenham forward: “Brighton was interested in signing Vincent Janssen in January. In the meantime, they’ve also wanted to sign Luuk de Jong. It was a crazy transfer window.”
The Dutchman was loaned out to Fernerbahce last September to get more playing time, and it seems he isn’t in the long plans of Mauricio Pochettino.
Subsequently it’s likely Janssen will leave Tottenham in the summer due to the competition for places at the Premier League club. With Harry Kane first choice and Fernando Llorente providing back up it’ll be difficult for Janssen to get games if he returns next season.
There’s a possibility he could return to Turkey despite his injury problems this season, and there have been recent reports he’s been offered to clubs.
