As Manchester United midfielder Andreas Pereira is on his way to Rio de Janeiro to complete his loan to Flamengo, there’s still news being reported about the move.

We now get a story from TNT Sports journalist Fred Caldeira giving many details of the negotiations and how the transfer was made possible.

The reporter claims that on Saturday, when Andreas was on the bench for the game against Leeds United, he already had two offers to leave the club. One from Everton and one from Flamengo, besides an approach from Fenerbahce.

The player had a call from Flamengo vice-president Marcos Braz just two days before. Then on that Saturday night, he was telephoned by manager Renato Gaúcho, who promised him playing time, and that was crucial to convince him.

According to Fred Caldeira, Andreas Pereira then got in touch with ‘a member of Manchester United’s board’ and told him about his decision to join Flamengo.

Even though the Red Devils would rather let him go on a permanent deal, there had been no offers for him. It’s also said that his nine years at the club helped him to convince the club to attend to his request.

It’s said the loan contract was signed at Kia Joorabchian’s office, and now on his way to Rio, Pereira is ready to play for Flamengo. TNT Sports says it’s likely he’ll be available on Wednesday, for the first leg of Copa do Brasil quarter-finals against Grêmio.
