Italian international Matteo Darmian had a difficult start to the season, as Jose Mourinho opted to play Antonio Valencia and Luke Shaw ahead of him.
However, Darmian regained his place in the starting XI after an injury to Valencia, and has now started in the last five league games.
The 27-year-old has been linked with a move to Inter Milan and other Serie A clubs, but there is still no clarity about his long term future.
Darmian has been speaking to Italian website Toro, and was asked about his future.
The former Torino star insists Jose Mourinho has a right to make his own decisions.
He said: “They changed the coach, they have changed the working methods. And rightly a technician must make its own choices, we must know how to accept that as players.”
Darmian added he is quite content at the moment because he’s been playing regularly, and isn’t paying attention to the rumours about leaving the club.
He added: “I did what I always do: to work and try to improve and take my opportunity. I’m happy to take to the pitch on a regular basis now.
“Here I am very well. Rumours of my return to Italy? I also read newspapers, but I just think of playing.”
It remains to be seen if Darmian can keep his position once Luke Shaw is back fully fit, but certainly he would be hoping to make most of this opportunity.
