One of the defenders Jose Mourinho wanted to sign for Manchester United last summer was Milan Skriniar of Inter Milan.
The Red Devils did not bring a new centre-back before the start of the season and after a series of poor results they decided to part ways with the Portuguese tactician in December.
However, the 20-time English champions are still interested in the Slovakia international, according to Tutto Mercato Web.
The defender is currently earning €2.5m per season with the Serie A outfit and the talks of new deal has so far not yet materialised into a contract extension.
Manchester United are willing to offer an annual wage of €5m for a period of five years and if he makes a switch to Old Trafford, his salary will be doubled.
For the deal to take shape, they are ‘ready to spend’ €85m fee, but TWM claims the Nerrazzurri are not ready to part ways with their player.
The 24-year-old is ‘non-transferable’ for Inter, but they have a problem with regards to Skriniar’s contract extension as he has already rejected their improved offer of €3m-a-season.
It should be seen if the Italian club will retain Skriniar or cash in from his sale if he decides to not renew before the end of the season.
