During Euro 2016, Goal France reported Blaise Matuidi had been given permission to leave France national team training camp to travel to England.

Many suggested Matuidi was on his way to hold discussions with Manchester United, but the claims didn’t seem to be true.

However, some reliable journalists in France did confirm Manchester United are interested in signing Matuidi, but only should they fail to sign Paul Pogba.

L’Equipe, in their Sunday edition, reiterate Manchester United interest in Matudi, and also say that the player is ‘eager’ to move to the Premier League before the end of his career.

L’Equipe say initial contacts took place between Manchester United and Mino Raiola over Matuidi in early June, but that talks haven’t gone any further.

Paris-Saint Germain have already signed Grzegorz Krychowiak, after the arrival of former Sevilla manager Unai Emery, and that could leave the door open for Matuidi.
