Christian Eriksen’s ‘potential and market opportunity’ makes him ‘one of the most coveted players in the market’, according to today’s edition of AS.

When they say market opportunity, they are talking about his contractual situation at Tottenham Hotspur, as his current deal will run out in 2020.

Among the clubs ‘most interested’ in incorporating the 27-year-old, there is Manchester United.

The Denmark international’s environment was made aware of the interest from the Red Devils last week, according to the Spanish newspaper.

On Friday, Manchester United representatives conducted a meeting to discuss the players they need to bring in for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s project and the Spurs star was the main man.

Even though United are one of the ‘most interested’ clubs in signing Eriksen, AS claims he prefers to join Real Madrid.

United are now sixth in the table with 65 points, three points behind fourth placed Chelsea. With two games left in this season, their chances of qualifying for next season’s Champions League look slim at this point.

Without competing in Europe’s elite club competition, signing Eriksen could be difficult for the 20-time English champions.
