Mino Raiola displaced Jorge Mendes this summer as the most important agent associated with Manchester United.

With Jose Mourinho, a Mendes client, arriving at Old Trafford, it may have been expected the Portuguese agent would have continued to play a big role in Manchester United transfer business.

That wasn’t to be the case, and Raiola has been hugely important for Edward Woodward this summer. Already having Sergio Romero at the club, Raiola added Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba in some impressive summer business.

Speaking to Cadena Cope (via Sport), Raiola was asked about the Manchester derby and Mourinho’s opposite number Pep Guardiola: “I do not like Guardiola as a man. He’s not my kind of guy.

“I like people who have a different character to Guardiola. Everyone knows what happened to Zlatan in Barcelona. I do not hate Guardiola, but I do not like the person. His game seems very boring.”

The dynamic of the Zlatan/Pep relationship is just one of the things which makes Saturday’s Manchester derby one of the most previewed domestic games European football has seen in years.
