Up until this weekend, AS Roma were on a roll.

The club was scoring, points were being picked up and their defence was looking strong.

That is until they faced Parma on Sunday, and it all came crumbling down, as Gervinho and his teammates put two past Chris Smalling and co. in front of the eyes of Manchester United’s ‘chief scout’.

According to Corriere della Sera, the emissary sent from Old Trafford was ‘officially’ there to talk about the English defender, who is currently on loan from the Premier League side in Rome, but he ended up getting more than he bargained for.

The Italian newspaper state he left the game having put together a report on Dejan Kulusevski, who is himself a loanee, sent to Parma from Atalanta for the season.

The Swedish forward has been in fine form for the Serie A side this year, scoring two goals and picking up five assists in 12 league appearances, and has caught the attention of numerous sides at the age of 19.

Atalanta know they have a gem on their hands, and so will want to make sure he continues to perform to then hopefully cash in when he returns.

Elsewhere in the article, it’s stated Wolverhampton and Southampton are preparing offers for the player of around €17-18m, which would fall short of his €25m valuation (an amount they would ‘gladly accept’).

For Manchester United, those figures would be highly affordable, and considering their need for a right winger these days, Kulusevski could be the young man Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been looking for.
